The other day, I went to a local department store to purchase several things I needed for the new townhome. I was able to find everything that I needed except for one particular item that was out of stock. When I inquired about purchasing the item online, I was told that it would be higher priced and that I would have to pay shipping. I thought that this was unfair…Why should I be penalized because the store’s stock was depleted? I also felt that with the amount of money I had just spent in the store , I should pay the exact same price for the online purchase and get free shipping.
I asked to speak to a manager who quickly honored my request. The moral of the story is…Don’t be afraid to ask for a price adjustment if you feel you are justified in doing so. Ask to speak to a person who has the authority to make the adjustment. If you are turned down…perhaps it’s time to shop elsewhere.
