Some of you may be wondering where I’ve been for the past 2 weeks. Here’s a recap…

ADVENTURE
I left town for 3 days…I had an overwhelming urge to see water (it soothes my soul). I enjoyed the change of scenery….It was rejuvenating! The trip lasted an extra day because we had almost a foot of snow back home and driving would have been a challenge. No complaints from me!

CHANGE
After 10 years of being known as Asheville’s “chocolate lady”, I made the decision to close my business at the end of 2010. When I created my concept many years ago, most of the gourmet chocolate companies I worked with did not have websites. They relied heavily on people like me to market their products. Now, almost every one of them has a website and a mail order business. When it got to the point that I was doing presentations and giving out samples (at my expense) and discovering that my clients were thanking me, bypassing me and ordering directly from the companies, I knew it was time to move on. I believe that it’s wise to know when a business plan has run its course. I am keeping my domain name and will return down the road with a new concept.

GRATITUDE
I want to thank my son, Paulfor all his hard work through the past ten years. At sixteen years old, he implemented my marketing plan and helped me create a lucrative business. He is now a successful website developer and I am proud to have been his first client. I also want to thank my husband and best friend, Richard Drecksler for all the hands on assistance. Now the roles are reverse, and I am enjoying assisting him with his career as a North Carolina Real Estate Broker.

CREATE
My writing remains my passion. I have used this site as a means to share my love of writing human interest stories, short stories and an occasional poem or song . As my favorite (youngest) son said, “It’s your site…do your thing!”

I am looking forward to 2011. I envision it as a year filled with positive change and lots of good karma!

Happy New Year to all my readers!
