Today I had a visit with a Doctor who is one of the nicest women on this planet. She truly cares about each and every one of her patients. Though it is never fun to go to the Doctor, I actually look forward to seeing her. She loves what she does and she does it well. I wish all Doctors had her warm wonderful bedside manner.
I believe that people should get out of professions that they no longer enjoy. First thought that comes to mind is a young Doctor I know who no longer seems happy and looks like he’s overwhelmed by his workload. I think that a person is doing them self an injustice (and the people whose lives they affect) by staying in a profession that makes them miserable.
I know a CPA who switched gears and became a truck driver. I recently met an Attorney who left law to open up a chocolate/ice-cream shop. I am sure family and friends questioned their mid-life career changes ….I respect them for being true to themselves and not worrying as much about what people think. I think that takes real courage.
