The Youngest Teacher In Kindergarten History

The year was 1982. A kindergarten class waits patiently for their teacher to arrive. The bell rings but still no teacher! Five year old Samantha looks at the chalkboard and sees that the teacher has written all the assignments on the board. She looks around and sees that her classmates are getting restless. She stands up and decides that she will teach the class until her teacher arrives. No-one questions her as she is known for being a good reader and one of the helpers of the class. The children wait for Samantha to tell them what their first assignment will be.

Three hours later, a teacher from an adjoining room steps into the classroom. She looks around and sees the children are quietly working with no teacher in sight. Samantha explains that she is teaching the class today because the teacher never showed up. The woman dashes to the office to report what has happened. The principal realizes that the teacher had called in sick and no-one remembered to check and see if the substitute teacher had arrived.

Moments later the principal is in the classroom telling the five year old “teacher” to go sit down and she will take over the class. “No problem” says Samantha, “but you need to know that the children have completed all their work and now it’s time to play.”
