I received a postcard in the mail from the DMV, notifying me that I could come any time in the next 6 months and renew my driver’s license. I’m going to hold out for awhile for a reason that may seem silly, but makes perfect sense to me…I don’t want to give up one of the best pictures I have ever taken. I pulled it out of my wallet hundreds of times through the years (when asked for identification) and received lots of compliments. Doesn’t take much to put a smile on my face!
I remember back in 2006 when I asked the DMV photographer lady if she could make me an extra copy or two. She looked at me as if I had asked her for her first born child! “We don’t do that here” she said, emphasizing the don’t just in case I didn’t get the point. “You need to move on, there is a line building up behind you.”
I know the DMV doesn’t allow them to do that but since the grumpy lady takes such great pictures, I envisioned her leaving that boring job and opening up a professional photography studio. I’m sure the people in line would have understood if I took a few minutes to help the woman plan her fabulous future!
I even would have consented to her using my picture in her portfolio!
