Someone very special to me went for a job interview today and walked away thinking about the fact that seven applicants were being considered for one job.I asked how he felt the interview went… As he played it back for me, he highlighted all the positive things about the interview and barely mentioned the competition.
This brings me to a very important point. There will most likely be competition for every good job out there. That’s real life…But that shouldn’t in any way affect the way you conduct yourself at an interview. Self- confidence is a very appealing trait…Coming across as self-assured about your abilities makes you stand out among the competition. If this information is shared with you at an interview (you are one of several we are considering for the position) do not let it get you off track. Sell yourself and share all the reasons why you are perfect for that position.
Don’t allow yourself to be intimidated by the competition. Use it as a positive way to stay on your toes and focus on why you are the best person for the job!
