With all the economic woes in this country, I believe it’s a perfect time for businesses to work on improving customer service skills. Even if numbers are down and things are looking bleak, businesses need to stay focused on the customers who have remained loyal and steadfast.
Yesterday, I went to the bank but to a branch in my new neighborhood. I introduced myself to all the tellers and let them know that I had moved from the other side of town and would be one of their customers now. As I went to leave, one of the tellers smiled and said, ” Welcome to the neighborhood.” Just a few simple words that put a smile on a customer’s face.
How will businesses get through the tough times? …By making customers feel that their business is valued and appreciated . Two of my children are working in the sales and service industry…The majority of their sales are under $20 but their customers are treated like VIP’s. These customers are the bread and butter of their business. They are repeat customers because they appreciate the way they are treated.
I think the important thing to remember is…We are all facing economic challenges and we need each other more than ever. Stay positive…Treat every customer who walks through your door with kindness and respect… I believe it’s the best formula for surviving and thriving…and hopefully learning a lesson or two along the way.
