Yesterday I talked about reputation. Today the subject is trust….As far as I’m concerned the two go hand in hand. Trust is what your reputation is built on. Take it away and you’ve tarnished not only your reputation but your relationship with others.
In the business world, trust is more important than anything. If a person can’t be trusted, why would anyone want to do business with them? Once that seed of doubt is planted , it’s hard to eradicate.
As I stated in yesterday’s column…I am concerned that people do not fully comprehend how important a good reputation is. I worry about people who tell what they consider acceptable lies and think nothing of it. In their minds, it’s OK to make up a story to get what they want . Often they rationalize, “Well, If I didn’t hurt anyone, what’s the big deal?”
As far as I’m concerned…It’s a very big deal!
