With the job market more challenging than ever, here are a few tips for making yourself stand out among the competition.
Make sure your resume is personalized for the job you are applying for. It’s great to have a well written resume but if it is too general it will not do you any good. Take the extra time to emphasize the education, talents and experience you have that fit the job description. If you believe you’re the perfect person for this job, your resume is your most important tool.

What if you do not hear back after you send in your job application? I believe it is acceptable to follow up with an email or a phone call especially if the date for accepting applications has passed. Many employers do not take the time to contact all applicants after they’ve made a decision so the only way you will know if you are still being considered is to contact them.
This might be a good time for you to consider expanding your perfect job for me list. The more jobs you are willing to consider, the greater your chances of finding employment. Your dream job may have to be put on hold while you look for something to pay your bills.
