Remember Mr. Roger’s song, “Who are the people in our neighborhood?”

.

I may just be the guy on the street but I’m worth knowing.

I’m the lady at the drugstore who hands you your prescription and wishes you a speedy recovery, the young man at the fast food take out counter who throws in that extra pack of sugar with your morning coffee, the cashier at the grocery store who tells you to have a nice day, the server who brings you a beverage refill without you having to ask, the woman at the convenience store who sells you your winning lottery number.
I may just be the guy on the street but I’m worth knowing.
I’m someone’s father, child, sister or brother…uncle, aunt, spouse or mother. If you take one second out of your busy day to acknowledge me when I serve you, it puts a smile on my face. I work long hours, pay my taxes and take home a paycheck at the end of the week. I don’t ask much except for kindness and respect.
I may just be the guy on the street but I’m worth knowing.
