I’m in the market for a new bed. My bed lasted right up until the warranty expired which I thought was pretty amazing. After all my research and visits to local furniture stores, I’ve come to the conclusion that this is one of the hardest purchases to make BUT one of the most important!

Living in a small town, I have discovered how frustrating it is when your choices are limited by what your local stores decide to carry. I went online to educate myself and found literally hundreds of beds that I have not seen locally. But the reality is…It’s smart to try out a bed before you buy it. So…you have the option to either settle for what your town has to offer or get in your car and visit neighboring cities that have more of a selection.

When you find the bed of your dreams ask questions such as ” What type of warranty comes with this bed? If I have a problem, can your store help me resolve the issue?” Also ask…”If I don’t like this bed but it’s not because of a defect … do I have the option to return it?” Some stores will tell you that you have a comfort guarantee Make sure you find out if there is a restocking fee involved with the exchange and find out if you will be charged for the delivery of the replacement mattress. It’s important to also know that a new mattress comes with 2 layers of plastic that have been heatsealed. If that plastic is no longer sealed and most likely reclosed with tape, then it has been opened.

In my research, I came across a wonderful family owned company..http://www.ccmattress.com/ . I had the pleasure to talk with Lygia (pronounced Leah) who gave me a crash course on buying a mattress. I can understand why she and her Father Peter have received numerous awards for their outstanding service. A million thanks to this lovely young lady for being so incredibly helpful.

I also received a wealth of information from a local representative for a well known mattress line. One of my local stores was kind enough to give me his number because they felt that he was more qualified to answer my questions. What I learned was ….Some stores choose to rename a particular mattress style which often makes it difficult to compare apples to apples.

I haven’t made my final decision yet but everything I learned in the past week will certainly help me make the right choice!
